Simplified Wardrobe: Five Updates for Spring 2017

Spring 2017 Updates

Spring is officially here, which means it’s time to adjust to a new seasonal wardrobe. As I have mentioned before, I like to have a capsule wardrobe for each season. It simplifies my day-to-day life when I know I have appropriate clothing regardless of where I am going. As a busy mom, I want to look put together, but I don’t want to spend a lot of time deciding what to wear. With that in mind, I wanted to highlight a few fun items I am daydreaming about for spring. Each of these classic, yet trendy items works well  with my existing wardrobe and will add some fun and versatility, allowing me to get more use out of the pieces I already have.

Chambray dress

Dresses offer such versatility and ease, and chambray is a great neutral option. The J. Crew Edie Chambray Dress is unique and fun with its ruffle top, but can easily be dressed up or down. It also  can be paired with different jewelry or shoes to completely change the look.  Some other options are the Chambray Flounce Shirtdress from Loft, the off-the-shoulder Chambray Dress by Crown and Ivy, or the AGB Crochet Trim Dress.

Off the Shoulder Top

The Cold Shoulder/ Off The Shoulder trend continues into spring, and is such a fun way to elevate a plain top into something more stylish. A white off the shoulder top is a very versatile piece to add to a spring wardrobe. It can be worn with blue or white jeans, shorts, dress pants, or a skirt for a variety of different occasions and the look can easily be changed with jewelry and accessories. A few options include the Off The Shoulder Cotton Poplin Top  by Bobeau,  Off The Shoulder Blouse by Madewell, Eyelet Off The Shoulder Top from Loft, or Crown and Ivy’s Woven Off The Shoulder Top.

Statement Earrings

Statement earrings (or any jewelry for that matter) are one of the easiest ways to add fresh style to an existing wardrobe. These Merenge Drop Earrings would pair nicely with a chambray dress or any white top as well as a variety of other items. They would even be fun to add some boho flair to a plain t-shirt and jeans. And there are many choices for statement earrings at different price points. Some other favorites include the Summer Drop Earrings,   the Josephine Tassel Hoop Earrings from Anthropologie and the Beaded Tassel Earrings by Sugar Fix by Baublebar for Target.

White Sneakers

I was way behind in purchasing these Chuck Taylor Shoreline Sneakers, and I am so glad I finally bought some. They truly go with everything, and are perfect for a mama chasing around young children. The fresh white is great for spring, but a bright color would also be a fun addition. These sneakers can take any busy woman from the ball field to the PTA meeting, to the grocery store, the park, and beyond. This particular style is flattering because of the lower cut, and pairs nicely with almost any casual look. A few other options include this version from Target or this version from Old Navy.

Fun Floral Piece

Finally, floral patterns are my favorite trend for spring! I love floral patterns all the time, so I am so happy when they are readily available in stores. There are so many great options for adding floral to a spring wardrobe. This Cold Shoulder Cami from Cabi incorporates two different spring trends, making it a great addition. It can be paired with jeans, dressy pants, skirts, or shorts to create many different looks. It can also be worn alone or layered under a cardigan or spring jacket, making it easy to dress up or down. This top, or a similar style will add mileage to a wardrobe now and into summer, making it a great choice. If the cold shoulder style isn’t for you, there are other options, including the  Hibiscus Shirred Blouse, the  Vine Utility Blouse  or the Floral Sleeveless Swing Knit Top.

Do you like to keep a simplified wardrobe? What have you added for spring?  I would love to hear from you.
